One login, every farm you work on
The agronomist who advises three farms, the vet who comes every month, the manager who runs your second site: many of them already use Famu. You don't make them a second account. You add the one they have to your farm, with a role that only applies on your farm.
Exactly as they sign in. Famu looks for that account and nothing else; it never searches.
Same login, same password. They tap the farm name at the top of the menu to move between farms.
Their role elsewhere, and every other farm's records. Nothing crosses from one farm to the next.
New account, or already on Famu?
Add User has two tabs. Pick who you're adding to see which one, and what you need.
Someone who has never used Famu needs an account, so New account creates one: you choose whether they sign in with an email or a username, set a temporary password, and pass both to them.
Someone who already signs in to Famu, on another farm or on their own, needs no new account and no new password. Already on Famu takes the email or username they already use and adds that account to your farm.
Type it exactly. Famu won't guess.
Try it on a pretend farm. Type an address, or tap one of the examples underneath. It answers the way the app does.
Capitals and stray spaces don't matter: OKELLO@example.com finds the same person as okello@example.com. But part of an address finds nobody. There is no list to pick from and no "did you mean". If you're not sure how they sign in, ask them. It takes ten seconds.
That is deliberate. A box that searched would let anyone with admin rights on any farm look up who uses Famu. So when Famu can't add someone, it gives the same answer whether the account doesn't exist, was deleted, or has been blocked.
A role per farm, and farms that never mix
This is Okello's menu once you've added him. Switch farms the way he would.
Adding someone doesn't move them. If they were in the middle of something on their own farm, they stay there. The next time they open the menu, your farm is in the list with their role there written under its name.
Each farm's records belong to that farm. While Okello has your farm open he sees your records, limited to what his role allows. When he switches back, he sees his other farm's records and none of yours. Famu's database enforces this on every request, not just the screen.
Remove from your farm, never from Famu
Once added, they're an ordinary row in your Users list. Remove, restore and change the role here.
Remove takes away their access to your farm only. Their account, their password and every other farm they belong to are untouched. The records they entered on your farm stay, under their name, because those records are your farm's.
A removed member stays in the list, marked Removed. To bring them back, tap Restore on their row; they come back with the role they had. Typing their address into Already on Famu again won't re-add them. It sends you to Restore, so someone who was removed on purpose isn't quietly let back in.
The rules that keep it honest
Only your admins can add people
It needs the Manage users permission, which only the admin role has unless you give it to another role on the Roles tab. Famu checks this on its server, not just by hiding the button.
Only your farm's roles
The role list shows your farm's roles, and the server refuses any other. Nobody can use this to give themselves a role on someone else's farm.
An exact match, never a search
One email or one username in, at most one account out. "Not found" means the same thing every time and gives nothing else away.
They're told
Anyone with a real email address gets a "you've been added to a farm" email naming your farm. Username-only workers have no address, so tell them yourself.
Their other farms are untouched
Their role, their records and the farm they had open stay exactly as they were. You change what they can do on your farm, nowhere else.
It's on the record
Adding, removing and changing someone's role all show in the farm's Activity log: who did it, and when.
Ask them first. Famu doesn't.
There is no invitation to accept
The moment you tap Add to farm, they're a member. Famu emails them, but it doesn't wait for a yes. They also can't leave your farm by themselves: if they no longer want to be on it, they ask you to Remove them. So agree it with them before you add them.
Once they're a member, your farm's Users list shows their name, their username and any phone number on their account, the same as for everyone else on the farm.
Earns its keep for
- An agronomist, vet or consultant who works with several farms
- A manager or family member running more than one of your farms
- A worker who moves between two farms that both use Famu
Does little for
- Someone who has never used Famu: use New account instead
- Someone who only needs to see one batch or planting: Share with someone on that record gives them a read-only view without joining the farm
