Famu · Your farm

Your own AI,
reading your farm

Copying one record at a time into Claude works, but you have to know which record to copy. Connect Famu to the AI you already use and it looks the records up itself: it finds the batch, reads its logbook and answers. It sees only what you can see, and it changes nothing unless you tick Allow changes — then it can log and correct records for you, asking first.

It looks things up

Ask "how is my newest batch doing?" and it lists your batches, picks the right one and reads it.

As you

It signs in as you, with your role on the farm. What your role cannot open, it cannot read.

Reads until you say

It changes nothing unless you tick Allow changes for it, and never your password. Disconnect it and it stops at once.

1 Integrations · Connected AI apps

One address, pasted once

Famu becomes a "connector" inside Claude or ChatGPT, next to the others you use there.

In Famu, open Integrations. Under Connected AI apps is Your connector address with a copy button. In Claude go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector; in ChatGPT, Settings → Connectors → Create. Paste the address.

Your AI then opens a Famu window. You sign in to Famu there, the same way you always do. Famu never sees your Claude or ChatGPT password, and Claude never sees your Famu one. Step through it.

    2 The Allow page

You decide, on a Famu page

Not inside the AI app: on Famu, where you can see which farm and which role.

The Allow page names the app, your farm and your role, and says what the app may do. It also shows the address you will be sent back to. An app chooses its own name, so anything could call itself "Claude"; the address is what tells you it is really claude.ai or chatgpt.com. If it is not where you started, choose Deny.

By default a farm's admin and manager can connect an AI and a worker cannot: a worker's personal AI reaching the farm's records, with the names of who logged what, is the owner's call. The owner can give any role Connect your own AI on the Roles page. Switch the role below.

An admin also sees Allow changes, unticked. Leave it and the AI only reads. Tick it and the AI can add, change and remove records too — only what your role could in Famu. Other roles need Make changes under Connect your own AI on the Roles page before they see the box.

    3 In Claude or ChatGPT

Three things it can ask Famu

An overview of the farm, a list of records, and one record's whole logbook.

A connected AI gets three tools, all of them reads. Farm overview tells it the farm's name, currency, enterprises and how many records you can see. List records finds batches, plantations or animals by name, tag or status. Read a record returns the same text as Use with AI: the record report's sections, written out, with a note saying a missing part means "not recorded", never zero.

It only offers the kinds of record your farm keeps and your role can open: a crops-only farm has no batches to list, and a role without the herd sees no animals. Watch it answer a question.

    4 Behind the Allow button

A key that opens one door

What your AI holds works on Famu's records, as you. It is not a way into your account.

When you tap Allow, Famu gives your AI a key of its own: not your Famu sign-in, and useless anywhere except Famu's connector tools. Famu keeps the real sign-in on its side, locked with that key, so even Famu's database on its own cannot open it.

Behind that, the database itself refuses any change made through a connected AI unless three things are true: your role has Make changes, you ticked Allow changes for that app, and Famu has not paused AI changes. Even then it changes only what your role could, under the same rules as the app — a finished batch stays locked — and never roles, people, settings or billing. Every change shows in the Activity Log as yours, via Claude. Pick something to ask for.

See what it did, and stop it

Every app you allowed, when it was last used, its Allow changes switch, and a Disconnect button.

Connected AI apps lists each app you have allowed and What they did: the overview, a list, a record, and every entry it added, changed or removed, and when. Untick Allow changes and the app goes back to reading only, from its next try.

Disconnect stops the app straight away, not at the end of the hour. A connection also ends by itself after 30 days, and you allow it again. If the owner takes Connect your own AI away from a role, that role's connections stop working at the next question.

6 What you can rely on

The rules that keep it yours

      Only what you can see

Every read is made as you, under your role. A cost, a sale or a log your role cannot open in Famu is not in what the AI gets.

Changes only when you say so

A new connection only reads. It changes records only after you tick Allow changes for it, only what your role could, and it asks you before each one.

      Not your sign-in

Your AI holds a key that works only on Famu's connector tools. It cannot sign in to the app, change your password, your email, the farm's roles or who belongs to it.

      Your farm only

One farm's records are invisible to another farm's people, and so to their AI. Nothing an AI asks for can reach across.

      Never from a support session

When Famu's team views your farm to help you, they cannot connect an AI as you. Only you can, from your own sign-in.

A record of what it did

Each look-up and change is logged with the app's name and when, under What they did on Connected AI apps — and every change is in the Activity Log as yours, via that app.

      ! Worth saying out loud

Your AI, under your terms with it

      What it does not do

What your AI reads goes to the company behind it (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under your own account and their terms, not Famu's. Famu cannot take it back once it has been read.

With Allow changes on, it records what you tell it — check what it read back before you say yes, as you would with anyone writing in your books. Recording a photo or a file is still done in Famu. It also works on one farm: the one you are signed in to. And AI answers can be wrong: check anything important, and call a vet or an extension officer about a sick animal or a diseased crop.

Adding a custom connector needs a Claude or ChatGPT plan that allows connectors. A very long record is shortened, keeping the newest rows of each table.

      Earns its keep for

      • Owners and managers who already plan their week in Claude or ChatGPT
      • Comparing batches or seasons without copying each one by hand
      • Telling it the day's numbers in a sentence and letting it log them
      • A quick answer about the farm from wherever you already are

      Does little for

      • Photos, receipts and files: add those in Famu
      • Farms that don't use an AI app of their own: Famu's assistant is built in

The devices on this page follow the app's rules: the read and change tools, the roles that may connect and allow changes by default, and what the database refuses from a connected AI.

The farm, people, records and address are illustrative.

      The steps, one page each

This explains how it works. These say exactly what to tap.

Try it on your own farm.

Everything this page walks through works on your own records from the first day. Create your farm, add today's entries, and see how connecting your own AI works for yourself.
