Why Famu says a meter is running high
The latest use against the meter's own normal: 1.6 times its recent average or more, within the last 14 days. Often a leak.
- Famu compares the latest stretch of use with the average of the three to six before it.
- At 1.6 times that average or more, and within the last 14 days, it raises an alert — often a leak or a drinker left running.
- For prepaid units, it warns when what you bought last would run out in three days or fewer at your usual rate.
- It needs a little history first: two finished purchases before a countdown, four stretches of use before a spike.
