What mortality rate means

The share of the batch that has died so far. Famu warns you both when the total is high and when deaths suddenly jump.

1. It is total deaths divided by the chicks you received.
2. Under about 5% over a broiler cycle is usually acceptable.
3. A sudden jump matters more than the total — that is a separate alert.
